Easy Ways to Fix ”Operating system Not Found”

There are some reasons why you may got a message that says ” Operating system Not Found” error at start-up. It could be either software issues and hardware issues related. While this will often considered disaster for most people, there are simple things you can do to solve the error without need to resort to costly repair shops or losing invaluable files.

Before you go ahead, you’re advised to gather as much information about your computer as you can, such as Operating System are you using, what model computer is it, what model hard drive are you using? Knowing these things will much help you get the necessary tools to diagnose and fix the computer.

Check the BIOS Settings
If the hard drive isn’t configured correctly via the jumpers and cables as well, you should get into BIOS to check and see the settings, The drive with Operating System should be othe Primary Hard Drive. For troubleshooting intent, please set the hard drive configuration to “AUTO” and list your hard drive in first Boot Device at the boot sequence section. But if your hard drive doesn’t show up, try to replace the power connector and IDE ( or SATA ) cable. Fix The Master Boot Record (MBR)

If your hard drive appears in BIOS, but you still get the “Operating System Not Found” error, you may simply need to fix the master boot record. All you need is an install disk or boot disk for your Operating System. When you boot to the disk, just need follow the prompts until you see the option for the Recovery Console. At the console’s prompt, type fixmbr and hit return.

Reinstall Windows

If all above don’t take effect, may reinstall Windows is the last way. Unfortunately, all your data on the disk will be lost, so you’re recommended to make a backup first. As a final way, you can try plugging your hard drive in other computer, and make sure you’re able to explore the files to save any data you don’t have backed up. Then, Try to reinstall when you’re ready. But if the operating system or disk still not found, may the problem resides on the controller on your motherboard or the drive itself might be damaged.
