Google Has Just Obtained Online Image-Editing Site Picnik
Google has just obtained Picnik, a well-known web-based photo editing site. The news was announced on the Picnik blog as well as the Google Photos blog.
Picnik, which first began in 2005, has become a well-known online alternative to photo-editing software like Photoshop. Although not as feature-rich as Photoshop, its friendly user interface, simplicity and upbeat design have helped it obtain about two million monthly U.S. visitors.
Unlike most startups, this one seems not to have existed solely to be obtained. Their product has been growing and enjoys a committed user base. Even, It has been profitable since 2009. This month alone, Google has been on an acquisition spree They obtained Aardvark and AppJet a social search startup, as well as paid reMail, a mobile e-mail utility app.
