HP Lists HP Slate 500 on its Website
HP, the world’s largest PC manufacturer, earlier this year unveiled plans to come up with a tablet dubbed the HP Slate, with Microsoft’s Windows 7 Operating System inside. But, HP later purchased Palm for US$1.2 billion and said it will use Palm’s WebOS mobile OS on a lot of devices including tablets. This led to rumor about HP changing its Slate plans, as Windows 7 is more fitted for desktop computers. But current listings indicate at the company launching tablets with both the Windows 7 OS and WebOS operating systems.
HP has just listed a model of the HP Slate 500 on its official website. The device offers an 8.9″ touchscreen with a Windows 7 Premium as its OS. The device also has somethings that the iPad doesn’t, a pair of cameras — one video and a still camera and Flash compatibility. The Windows-based HP Slate will come with a 1.6GHz Intel Atom Z530 processor, 32GB or 64GB of Flash storage, 1GB non-upgradable RAM, and many more.
These specs fit a previous HP Slate leak from April. Even, they’re very identical. Previous reports said that Windows-based HP Slate will come with a 1.6GHz Intel Atom Z530 processor, 32GB or 64GB of storage capacity, and support for 1080p video playback. Despite this recent details clearly describe the HP Slate, we doubt a Windows 7-based HP tablet will come out anytime soon.
